**Only for UWE undergraduate students**
- Looking for a placement where you can make a big difference? Want to gain skills employers want in a supportive working environment? Then this exclusive UWE student placement opportunity is for you_

Join the friendly UWE Library in September 2023 and help us collaborate with the University in providing forward-looking learning, library and careers development activities for all students within a rapidly developing institution and a fast-changing sector.

We have
**two** placement opportunities open to
**UWE undergraduate students from any faculty and course that has a sandwich module option for academic year 2023/24**.

**About you**:
This is an excellent opportunity to hone your skills in customer service and to develop skills in creating resources to support fellow students at UWE. Based in the Library Services’ Learning Services team, you will spend time working at the library service desk helping students and supporting our engagement activities including producing content for social media.

If you are considering a career working in Higher Education, Librarianship or Customer Service, or you’re unsure and would like to develop broad administrative experience in a large and complex organisation this placement will help you gain valuable work experience and develop your CV.

Both roles will involve:

- Working on a front facing desk providing students with information about our services and signposting as appropriate, this is a significant part of the role.
- Creating content for social media to support our work and raise awareness of our services.
- Scheduling social media content in line with the Engagement Teams communications calendar.
- Working closely with the Engagement team to run History Month campaigns throughout the year.
- Working as part of a team and gaining administrative experience in a large and complex organisation.
- Developing your CV with support from the careers team and your line manager.

Your experience as a UWE student will be invaluable in working with Library staff to enhance services and feed the student voice into new projects and developments, for example we will support you to work on our History Month Library campaigns, with a view for you to take a lead on aspects of these once you gain confidence.

We try to make our placements flexible so that we can help you develop the skills you need for your CV, you will work with your line manger to identify opportunities to get involved with work that interests you as well as your day-to-day duties.

In return, you will receive a high level of training and development that will both help your future studies and develop skills and aptitudes in support of your future career. As part of your placement, you would be offered an extensive induction, training in key areas, and financial support to attend relevant external events.

You will be encouraged to reflect on these experiences and to share your learning with colleagues. You will have access to support from the careers team to develop your CV and make the most of your experience.

Some of our previous placement students have gone on to use their placement experience to help them develop their dissertation proposal, others have gone on to internships at UWE after graduating.
