**The Role**
Here at Fortem our trades are the heart of our business, and we believe that the development and training of our Apprentices is key to our success. Therefore, we are delighted to confirm that we are looking for an Apprentice Carpenter to join our Fortem team on our Stonewater Housing Association contract working in the Swindon area and around the South West. We are seeking a driven and committed Apprentice who will be the future of our business in years to come. As an Apprentice with Fortem, you will complete an NVQ for your trade at college, whilst working with your Trade mentor, putting your knowledge and skills learned into practice “on the job”.
**The Project**
What you’ll be doing: Working alongside a trade mentor you will: - Carry out a range of repairs within our customers properties including carpentry repairs such as: Kitchen repairs and fencing - Complete general joinery including cutting and shaping timber for floorboards, doors, skirting boards and window frames - Undertaking Fire door replacement Alongside your day-to-day activities, you will be involved in wider business activities to enhance your learning and be supported to be involved in local community initiatives. You will have a clear plan around your development and our unrivalled apprenticeship scheme has proved time and time again that developing our next generation of future talent is imperative to our growth plans. Upon graduation, you will be supported in progressing into a permanent role within the team and to continue your career development journey.
**Essential and Desirable Criteria**
Qualifications: Desirable not essential (As we can support you through functional skills as part of your apprenticeship): - GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) - GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/C) Additionally: - You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity as there will be frequent use of hand tools - You will occasionally be required to work at height or be required to walk and stand on uneven ground - You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction

**Additional Information**
We offer a competitive Apprentice salary, in addition to a comprehensive benefit package including pension and birthday leave. Assessment Centre's will be held between the 17th and 28th of April 2023. The branch induction and start date will be between the 7th and 25th of August 2023. The apprenticeship college course will commence on around the 4th of September 2023.
