For Apprentice Bricklayer:

- Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Set out and build brickwork, including complex arches and surrounding brickwork, curved on plan, concave and convex brickwork and battered brickwork.
- Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer
- Shape and trim bricks/blocks using hammers, chisels and power tools.

For Apprentice Carpenter/Joiner:

- Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Using a range of hand and power tools
- Building studwork walls and staircases
- Fitting kitchens
- Hanging doors, pitching roofs, fitting hinges and Installing floor joist coverings
