**The role**
Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, the Tax Assistant is responsible for providing seamless support to both the Finance Team and the wider business in ensuring company tax obligations are honoured in an accurate and timely manner.

The Tax Assistant also plays a vital role in preparing accurate calculations and data analysis to provide insightful reports to support sound and compliant business decisions.

**This permanent role is based upon 37.5hrs/week between Monday and Friday, which following a successful training and induction period will operate on a hybrid basis, to include 2-3 days per week based onsite at our central offices in Letchworth.**

**Key accountabilities**
- Draft/prepare quarterly tax calculations based on forecasts and budgets.
- Analysis of tax data for tax sensitivity on a regular basis.
- Prepare IFRS101 & 102 Corporate Tax disclosures annually.
- Prepare the Corporations Tax computations and returns for circa 12 companies.
- Assist and support the Group Tax Manager with the administrative aspects of the tax return compliance process.
- Develop and maintain a good understanding/knowledge of basic VAT and property VAT.
- Build and maintain awareness of PAYE settlement agreements.
- Build/maintain working knowledge of Alpha Tax and One Source software.
- Demonstrate a wider awareness of tax related commercial issues.
- Regularly liaise with and build trusted relationships with the rest of the Finance Team and business entities.
- Build and maintain relationships with external advisors as well as HMRC.
- Engage in regular self-development to keep up to date with all tax matters.
- Approach challenges with effective problem solving.
- Ad hoc tax related tasks when required.

**Skills & experience**
- **Experience of working in a target driven environment dealing with corporation tax and VAT**:

- Experience of using finance management systems
- Possess a logical and analytical approach, with excellent attention to detail and an advanced level of numeracy and IT skills (MS Excel is essential).
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with forward thinking problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
- Desired professional qualifications include ATT, ACA, ACCA, CTA, similar or part-qualified and within significant experience also desirable.
