We are currently seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Coordinator. They will join an experienced and supportive team who provide highly effective safeguarding and pastoral support which is central to our whole college safeguarding culture. You will play an active part Coordinating the Nelson Safeguarding and Welfare Team, working collaboratively with wider curriculum and support teams across the College and external agencies. You will be motivated and confident in providing holistic support to ensure students are safe and their wellbeing is paramount and be adept at supporting others to do so.

As a coordinator you will be skilled at establishing and maintaining relationships, driven by our college values and will focus primarily on supporting safeguarding Officers and at risk learners. In this role you will make a significant difference ensuring that learners are able to overcome barriers to learning and excel in their chosen educational aspirations.

This role will be primarily based at Nelson but you may be required to travel across sites.

**What You Will Be Doing**:

- Co-ordinate safeguarding and welfare referrals to assess need, ensure appropriate and timely interventions are in place to meet the need of vulnerable and at risk students, including own case load
- Act as a named point of contact for internal staff and external agencies in order to establish and maintain effective partnerships and facilitate timely safeguarding referrals, interventions and plans of support - assuming the role of Deputy DSL as required
- Facilitate weekly ‘At Risk’ meetings to support and mentor Safeguarding and Welfare Officers in order to enable them to work effectively with students and signpost to appropriate internal or external services, offering advice and training as required
- Attend internal and external meetings in order to advocate for students and support colleagues and partners to develop successful outcomes for students, arranging and chairing meetings as required
- Capture and utilise safeguarding data to monitor and report on safeguarding issues in order to inform service delivery and improvement, contributing to the development of reports as required

**What We Are Looking For**:

- A passion to support/keep learners safe and promote safeguarding culture.
- An ability to support safeguarding officers to ensure all learners are safe and their wellbeing is paramount
- 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C or above
- DSL training level 4/5
- Successful experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults
- Experience of providing information, advice and guidance to young people
- Experience of working in partnership with external agencies
- Working knowledge of Safeguarding Child Protection policies, procedures and issues
