Highly Specialised Dietitian

The post-holder will be an expert practitioner and provide dietary advice, guidance and education to both patients and clinicians in the CYP-CEDS community team, intensive community treatment pathway and day-patient programme.
This will include leading on service development for dietetic provision for both the intensive community pathway and day-patient programme which are both new pathways within CYP-CEDS.
They will work as a key member of multi-disciplinary teams and work with these staff to support their understanding of nutrition and hydration issues and work collaboratively to ensure continuity of care.
This includes providing specialist dietetic assessment and counselling for young people with clinical eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.
They will also be involved in the support the CYP-CEDS teams provide to local paediatric wards when young people with eating disorders are admitted for medical stabilisation due to refeeding risk.

- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, advice and intensive intervention for people requiring Dietetic input in specialist clinical area.
- Have responsibility for the quality of Dietetic service delivery within specialist area of practice across CEDS-CYP.
- Provide expert advice, joint working and give second opinions concerning highly complex cases within specialist clinical area.
- Make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about Dietetic intervention options.
- Be a clinical leader within an identified specialist clinical area, leading by example, demonstrating good practice, openness and responsiveness to emerging evidence.
- Provide training and development for members of the MDT related to skills used when working with people in specialist area.
- Provide Dietetic leadership to colleagues in the teams.
- Act as a role model for Professional Practice and undertake the required clinical supervision.
- Undertake leadership duties related to Dietetics including, the planning and implementation of Dietetic service delivery; working in conjunction with the appropriate operational team leads and professional managers.
- Develop robust professional networks with other Dietetic teams, The Multi-Disciplinary Team, Primary Care, Community Services, Local Authority and Third Sector to enhance service provision.
- Liaise with other Dietetic Leaders through networking regarding issues relating to own Clinical Specialist area.

**Clinical**:
- To be a clinical expert within the specialty.
- Carry own Dietetic caseload within specialist area - CAMHS ED.
- To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based dietetic care for the children, young people (CYP)and their families at all times.
- Ensure that each child is assessed, and that their care is planned, implemented and evaluated in negotiation with the family, and that this is accurately documented.
- Provide an effective and efficient Dietetic service for people with specialist and/or complex needs within Specialist area.
- Promote Family Centred Care and ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring, clean and safe environment for the CYP and their families.
