**Media & Communications Officer**

Role: Media & Communications Officer

Reports to: Communications & Marketing Manager

**Objectives of role**
- To develop Habinteg’s relationship with the media, responding to requests from journalists and other media contacts, as well as preparing and selling in targeted media content in line with the communications strategy
- To ensure that Habinteg is making most appropriate use of the full range of media outlets and formats traditional and digital channels for trade, consumer, national and regional media
- To generate content for Habinteg’s own communications channels including website, newsletters, internal communications and social media

**Key tasks**

**1. Media relations**
- Devise and implement creative communications and PR campaigns to support the delivery of Habinteg’s mission.
- Gain coverage in trade, national and local outlets to both maximise the reach of Habinteg’s message and help us achieve our national and local policy ambitions around accessible homes
- Deliver PR and media coverage to support the Centre for Accessible Environments’ (CAE) marketing strategy

**Specific Duties**:

- Write press releases, statements, letters, comment pieces and blog posts
- Maintain Habinteg’s website news feed
- Identify opportunities and sell in news stories, comment pieces, blogs and features to appropriate media
- Build relationships with journalists in relevant media sectors including trade, consumer media and bloggers, at national, regional and local level across all channels (online, radio, TV and print)
- Compile and circulate daily media coverage bulletins and develop any reactive opportunities for Habinteg and CAE
- Maintain and update the media contact database
- Handle incoming enquiries from journalists, fact-find within the organisation and produce responses quickly in collaboration with colleagues
- Support the Head of Communications and other senior colleagues to produce and rehearse issue management plans and handle media in the event of major incidents and in handling sensitive issues
- Brief spokespeople
- Collaborate with team on media events, photo opportunities, briefings and launches
- Monitor media coverage and other PR results, providing reports to Leadership.

**2. Content generation**
- Engage with tenants and disabled campaigners and to source case studies, quotes and blog posts,
- Support the team to write articles and source imagery for publication in Habinteg’s staff and tenant facing channels including newsletters and intranet as well as external facing digital newsletters and websites
- Build working relationships with Habinteg staff and other networks to identify stories that support our key messages

**3. Social media**
- Schedule and deliver social media posts in collaboration with other team members and departments across the organisation;
- Ensure that social media is appropriately embedded in all public relations projects
- Monitor and evaluate social media activity to ensure continual development of Habinteg’s reach and impact

**4. General communications team duties**
- Support planning and delivery of public facing events such as launches, seminars and campaign activities linked to Habinteg’s #ForAccessibleHomes campaign
- Provide project activity reports to as required
- Uphold and promote Habinteg’s brand guidelines, style guide and core values
- Administrative tasks relating to communications team activities or support to the organisation as a whole
- Any other duties reasonably requested

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £32,000.00-£32,690.00 per year
