Engineering Manager

Our client are a leading privately owned beverages processor and distributor with multiple sites across the UK.
They are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager at the Company’s principal processing facility based in West London. The role will report to the Factory Manager and be required to drive a proactive approach towards ensuring optimized operationalefficiency of plant and all equipment to support the larger objective of fulfilling the daily production plan and achieving performance targets through smooth and continuous operation.
Core Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all planned and systematic actions are taken to assure the food safety, legality, integrity and quality of all products produced on site.
- As a strategic leader, you will develop the Engineering strategy in conjunction with site and wider business plans, inspiring and guiding your team to deliver it
- You will be responsible for all strategic and operational engineering activities across the whole site including maintenance, capital projects, budgets, utilities and all other related areas.
- To design planned maintenance programme, preventive and reactive maintenance and ensure it is effective and continuously improved for optimum machine use
- Having to operate in a regulated environment as a dairy processing, pertaining to food processing, you will ensure all engineering procedures and standards comply with legislation and customer specific requirements
- Identifying, providing and facilitating solutions to engineering and technical problems
- Assessing and approving suppliers, fabricators, equipment and third-party providers
- Reviewing, recommending, and approving contracts and cost estimates within delegated authority
- Providing line management to direct reports; including setting and monitoring of personal objectives, mentoring and coaching, monitoring staff performance, and conducting regular performance reviews. Developing technical capability within the team
- Leading engineering planning, coordination and review meetings
- Ensure (in conjunction with department H&S representative) that all engineering work is designed, procured and delivered in a safe, managed and lawful manner, compliant with all relevant legislation.
**Essential Knowledge, Skills and experience**:
- Recognised Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification.
- Strong understanding of project management techniques
- Prior experience of having worked in an automated environment
- Ability to lead a team and coach them on optimal performance.
- Working knowledge of applicable standards, including legal, within the FMCG environment.
- Competency to analyse and interpret data
- Proactive approach to Problem solving and being able to provide effective solutions
- Proven record of design and installation experience
- Ability to identify gaps and implement Process improvements; Lean / CI tools.
