**Job summary**:
The Department for Business and Trade is leading preparations for the UK’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, taking place 13 April 2025 - 13 October 2025. The Expo provides a unique opportunity to promote the UK’s global leadership, economy, culture, businesses and international policies on a global stage. The event is expected to attract around 28 million visitors overall and will be an important milestone showing the importance of foreign policy bilateral relationships between the UK and Japan.

**The Role**

This is an exciting role working as part of the senior team leading the planning and delivery of the Osaka Expo 2025 - a high-profile, cross-Whitehall project with a budget of between £40-70 million.

We are operating within tight timescales to be able to design and construct a Pavilion in Japan and deliver our presence at World Expo Osaka 2025. DIT are in the process of establishing a project delivery team to ensure the Pavilion and event management is delivered to achieve its objectives, on time and on budget.

This role is to support the UK Expo 2025 Operations Team, which is responsible for managing the UK Pavilion Design, Construction, Facilities Management (Hard & Soft) and Deconstruction. The role will require coordination of the needs of the various stakeholders, partners and sponsors of the UK Pavilion to inform a Specification for its Design as well as a run phase model to ensure that it meets all the operational needs of the project in terms of visitor experience, hospitality, events programme and the run phase team.

The post holder will work closely with Commercial Colleagues to develop a procurement and implementation strategy for the following key contracts required to deliver the scope of works:

- Pavilion Design
- Pavilion Construction
- Project Management & Cost Control (PMCC)
- Pavilion Maintenance (Hard FM)
- Pavilion Utilities (Electric, Water & Technology Package)
- Pavilion Staffing (Soft FM)
- Pavilion Hospitality Contract (Restaurant & Bar)
- Pavilion Deconstruction and/or Legacy

The team will manage the day to day working relationships with these contracts and ultimately be responsible for ensuring that the Pavilion is built and opened on time and on budget functioning smoothly for the 6 months run phase. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the decommissioning and/or legacy of the UK Pavilion is managed to time at the end of the Expo.

**Job description**:

- Support DIT Commercial in the procurement, including evaluation of tenders.
- Support on the Day to day contract and budget management of the above contracts ensuring that the project is delivered on time and for the best VFM.
- Support the management of the Pavilion Architectural Design to ensure that it incorporates the International Content Design Services (ICDS) contractor's visions for the Pavilion in a holistic and coherent manner whilst incorporating all the functionality required to successfully host public visitors, events, hospitality and VIPs.
- Support the management of the PMCC contract to ensure that all necessary controls and governance mechanisms are in place and maintained to support them in their management of the Pavilions Design & Construction contractors.

Support with information management and reporting on progress to others across the project.

**Hybrid working**

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.
