Buyer Materials Planner

**Post**: Buyer & Materials Planner
**Responsible to: Head of Procurement**
The main purpose of the role is focused on the procurement of direct materials required by our multi-site manufacturing facilities and intercompany purchasing requirements within the Brightwell Group. The role involves daily interaction with internal customers and external supplier to ensure inventory is kept at an acceptable level whilst managing the commitment of scheduled orders with current suppliers. There will also be opportunities to support the tender process by working closely with new and existing suppliers to help manage costs.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Recommend stock order requirements based on market trends and daily review of stock holdings, taking full ownership of stock management.
- Accurately enter purchase orders, ensuring on-time and cost effective delivery.
- Monitor and maintain inventory parameters consistent with inventory management guidelines.
- Management of JIT contracts to support Kanban manufacturing whilst proactively reducing inventory.
- Call off committed stock requirements and expedite overdue deliveries.
- Source alternative components and pursue alternative supply chains to resolve shortages and support dual sourcing strategies.
- Support the sourcing and tender process to meet business needs and help manage costs.
- Promote and maintain good vendor relationships with new and existing suppliers.
- Assist with the development and management of the supplier base to maximise efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure data held on the Company’s ERP system is accurate and up to date.
- Oversee the logístical control of parts requiring a sub-contract process.
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries with the Accounts Dept.
- Demonstrate strong expediting skills and communications skills.
- Assisting with sourcing and tender projects as required to help manage costs and mitigate risks.

**Education/Qualifications**
Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent level.
CIPS qualified or working towards
**Knowledge/Experience**
3 years+ experience in a purchasing role
Experience in electronics purchasing
Manufacturing experience
Far East supply chains
**Skills/Abilities**
Commercial acumen and Negotiation
Attention to detail
Working to deadlines
Time management/organisational skills
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
ERP System (Syspro / SAP etc)
**Personal Competencies**
Self motivated and positive
Able to work on own initiative
High level of integrity
Excellent communication skills at all levels
Adaptable
