The Hans Administrator will facilitate the key events in the HANS patient pathway, including patient referral and all appointments.

The Homerton Anal Neoplasia Service (HANS) is a referral centre that provides a screening and treatment service for people at risk of, or who have developed, precancerous lesions in the genital area, including the anal canal, the skin around the anus, penis, vagina and vulva. The service is located within the Homerton Sexual Health Service (HSHS).

The HANS patient pathway includes the following key administrative events which the HANS administrator (HA) will facilitate:

- Referral into the service
- First assessment appointments
- A range of possible treatment appointments
- Surveillance appointments

There is an increasing patient demand for this busy service, and the post holder will work closely alongside the HANS Pathway Coordinator (HPC) in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate appointment within the right timeframe.

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the HANS Administrator role and its purpose within the service; they are not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake additional or alternative administrative duties and responsibilities commensurate with the level of the post, to support the smooth running of the department.

Patient records
- Appointments are made on EPR/Infoflex, and the patient paper records are kept on site in the reception back office. The HANS administrator will work alongside reception staff in ensuring that patient records are pulled and prepped in good time for the clinic, and any “missing” records are located.
- File GP letters, reports, and any other correspondence in the patient’s notes on EPR and DSX.
- Use EPR system and other information systems to collate information for clinic preparation checking that patient details are correct.

Reception
- The HA will occasionally work alongside receptionists at the reception front-desk during HANS clinics.

Departmental administrative team
- The HA will work as part of the administration team within HSHS. They will be obliged to attend all relevant departmental and team meetings and trainings.
- The Team is working towards continually improving its standards and a high emphasis is places on good teamwork across HANS, reception and the secretarial function, supporting each other and helping wherever possible.
- Co-ordinate and provide administrative support to the relevant teams to ensure that all the relevant paperwork and clinical information is available.
- To provide general administrative support including taking minutes for meetings, filing and photocopying.
