The Deputy Head of Operations will support the Head of Operations in leading the effective and efficient delivery of the day to day operational performance of the Care Group, ensuring sustainable delivery of high quality patient care, safety, operational standards and quality/ service improvement programmes. This is an excellent time to join the Surgical Divisional in the New Royal Liverpool Hospital and play an active part in further developing our new models of care as part of our ongoing integration work.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the post holder will be an integral member of the Care Group's Management Team and will be responsible for spporting the delivery of the Care Group's strategy and the Division's overall strategy and objectives.

If you have experience in a leadership role within an Acute Hospital setting, including a track record of performance management and experience of successful management of change and developing teams, we would like to hear from you.

The Deputy Head of Operations will drive improvement in operational performance and planning within the Care Group advising the Deputy Clinical Director/Clinical Leads and external partners in order to enable the achievement of Trust objectives and make a positive contribution to the provision of health services across the local economy.

In addition to supporting the delivery of the Care Group's strategy, the Deputy Head of Operations will take operational responsibility for a single service within a Care Group. This will include leading and administration team, being responsible for a single budget and writing policies.

Proactively providing solutions to resolve operational issues, in accordance with agreed Divisional objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints. The Deputy Head of Operations will have management experience in overseeing the performance of teams, and will possess personal qualities and skills to deal competently with operational issues.

The Deputy Head of Operations will implement patient centred clinical operational strategy and plans, advising the Care Group Leadership team and ensuring that systems and processes are in place and adhered to. The Deputy Head of Operations will lead plans and strategies for a delegated single service.

The Deputy Head of Operations will have oversight of the Care Group's overall budgets and take the lead on a designated budget for a single service within the Care Group.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

Service Delivery and Performance Management
- Develop robust business and workforce plans for an identified area within the Care Group, including systems, structures and processes for managing clinical quality, risk, controls assurance and public involvement initiatives.
- Achieve key performance indicators, access targets and contractual obligations including CQUINS and meeting CQC standards for an area identified by the Head of Operations
- Keeping the Care Group leadership team advised; lead the development of operational managers and team leaders within the Care Group to ensure that patient care and services are led by competent, capable, high performing teams.
- Deliver through the implementation of plans and strategies a culture of service improvement, which produces new ideas, approaches, innovation or insights, ensuring that developed plans are taken forward to improve patient care and services.
- Create a positive and compelling vision of the organisation’s future potential, ensuring a structured approach is used to plan and proactively manage transformational change.
- Ensure that the vision, values and strategic themes of the Division are being translated into clear goals and objectives in business and workforce plans and appraisal, using checking processes to ensure that progress is being made.
