An exciting opportunity to join a business consultancy company who aims to make London the best city in the world to do business. The Policy and Engagement Officer is responsible for supporting the Programme Director, People & Skills, on delivering a successfulmajor skills consultation project, the Local Skills Improvement Plan, a training needs analysis exercise for the whole of London. You will contribute to their mission to improve the quality of skills training provision in the capital. Working as part of thePeople and Skills Team, and closely with external partners as well as other parts of the business including the Events, Communications, and Business Development teams.

JOB ROLE: Policy & Engagement Officer

INDUSTRY: Business consultancy

SALARY: £30k - £35k

LOCATION: West End - 6 month FTC

JOB ROLE:

- Researching the employment and skills policy landscape at the London and central Government levels and how this might impact the Project
- Support the team to identify how the research data gathered during the project and its consultation processes should inform both the recommendations in the final project report and wider skills policy and advocacy work
- Identify member and stakeholder organisations and key personnel who the business should engage with as part of this project
- Map, create and keep up-to-date an easily accessible list of member and stakeholder organisations including a summary of the project's engagement with them
- Supporting the implementation of a member and stakeholder engagement plan involving working with the Events Manager to deliver a programme of meetings and events utilising all channels available
- Write summaries of discussions at the engagement events and meetings and feed back key points to be considered to the project team
- Supporting the organisation of project working group and team meetings including arranging dates, meeting rooms, agendas and taking action notes and supporting follow up
- Act as a point of contact for Stakeholder organisations, signposting, liaising with and introducing to colleagues as appropriate
- Keeping in regular touch with key contacts to update them on the project, gain insight from them and to identify potential areas for mutual working
- Proactively build effective and enduring relationships with members and stakeholders participating in the project

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- Experience as a researcher or policy or stakeholder engagement officer in an in-house or agency environment.
- Ability to demonstrate success in supporting the delivery of policy and stakeholder engagement projects.
- Experience in one, or all, of these industry sectors will be an advantage: Business, Government, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), not for profit, think tank, Education.
- Experience of administering and managing own work and workstreams
- Experience of interpreting complex information and presenting clear key messages
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, while able to keep the big picture in mind, and a strong sense of logic.
- Ability to balance competing priorities.
- Comfortable to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive performer with an ability to spot what needs to be done and deliver it, and suggesting solutions to challenges that arise
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to all levels of seniority.
- Building rapport with internal teams and managing project communication at a peer level.
- Demonstrate 'passion' - approaches all tasks in a wholehearted and enthusiastic manner
