We are currently seeking compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Support Assistants to work in our SEND schools in Newcastle and the surrounding area.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide one-on-one or group support to students with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom, under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Assist with the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies for students with specific needs.
- Help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and adapt learning materials and resources to meet individual student requirements.
- Monitor and record student progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to the teaching team.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
- Support students during transitions between different activities or areas within the school.
- Promote independent learning and personal development skills among students.
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and safety of all students.

**Requirements**:

- Relevant experience working with children with SEND, either within an educational setting or in a similar capacity.
- Some knowledge of different SEND conditions, their characteristics, and appropriate support strategies and a willingness to extend knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards children with SEND, demonstrating understanding and sensitivity.
- A determination to help students with SEND achieve their potential.
- Flexibility to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
