We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced **Student Support Practitioner (CBT Therapist/Counsellor)** to provide specialist trauma informed, one-to-one psychological therapies and psychosocial interventions, including group work, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As a member of the Student Support Team, you will play a key role in supporting students to maintain wellness and overcome mental health challenges, so they can participate fully in student life. This role will be adaptable to the changing needs of the student population and requires the provision of a confidential trauma informed therapy service.

Our multi-disciplinary Student Support team contribute to student retention, engagement, achievement, and satisfaction, by enabling students to develop the skills and knowledge to manage challenges and participate fully in student life. The team provide information, advice, guidance, support, and coaching, responding to a wide range of student life, welfare, and behaviour issues. The service offers a variety of interventions based on assessment of needs and can include individual wellbeing and safety plans, therapeutic appointments, provision of online resources and referral/ liaison with external agencies. The team work together flexibly and responsively, collaborating across the university partnership and external agencies placing the student at the heart of what we do.
**About You**:
You will have a background as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Counsellor or Psychotherapist and have additional recognised training to deliver trauma informed therapeutic interventions. Applicants must be appropriately trained, qualified, and supervised, in accordance with standards agreed by the university and in line with the relevant Professional Bodies. (BACP, BABCP, UKCP or equivalent.)
- Experience of supporting and advising individuals with wide ranging mental health concerns, including severe and enduring mental health conditions, ideally in an HE environment.
- Good knowledge of student mental health issues, including risk identification, mental health assessments and therapeutic / counselling approaches.
- Up-to-date knowledge of mental health practice within the NHS and voluntary sectors, including how and when to make effective referrals into these services.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate positively with a wide range of people.

This senior post is offered on a 20 hour a week, part
- time, permanent contract working across Monday-Friday. The role may include working across our Cornwall campuses with hybrid opportunities. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check.
