The Salford Mental Health Liaison service offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialties within one multi-disciplinary team so that patients of all ages with a suspected or actual mental health problem can be assessed, treated, signposted or referred appropriately regardless of age, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity.

The service puts an emphasis on diversion and discharge from A&E and on the facilitation of early but effective discharge from general admission wards. The service operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

**The Senior CAMHS Practitioner post holder will**:
Provide specialist CAMHS clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the MDT in the MHLS team, in line with relevant clinical pathway, as outlined within the operational procedures and relevant service specification.

Lead on the development of the MDT knowledge and skills set around the assessment and response to the needs of Children and Young People. This will be achieved through the delivery of training, consultation and supervision as core aspects of this role.

Provide direct patient interventions for Children and Young People, focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge and improved quality of life for patients referred to the service.

Be expected to individually provide, and support the wider MDT in providing, safe and comprehensive assessments of Children and Young People attending the A & E department.

Provide comprehensive assessments to plan and identify the mental health needs of the patients referred to the service and to follow up. This would primarily be for Children and Young People however this is not exclusive.

Have an in-depth understanding of a range of the physical health conditions and the impact these can have on mental health.

Have an in-depth understanding of the range of mental health conditions and presentations that Children and Young People may experience.

Undertake and record comprehensive risk assessment, devise and implement risk management plans for service users at risk of vulnerability, self-harm, self-neglect, or risk of physical, sexual, emotional harm to others.

Ensure, as far as practicable, the full involvement of service users - and where appropriate, relatives and carers - in the assessment of their needs and the formulation and review of their care plans.

Demonstrate clinical and practice expertise via interventions, supervision and model good practice.

Establish quality standards relating to the service user and carer experience and establish systems to monitor and audit these standards.
