**Overall Purpose of Job**

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Communications Assistant will contribute to elevating the student experience, promoting academic research excellence, and upholding the College’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, community, and wellbeing through engaging communications campaigns.

This role will have a primary focus on digital content management, with responsibility for the College social media channels, strategic content creation for news and events, and leveraging analytics to optimise platform engagement. Additional responsibilities include internal communication support, website management, the production of multimedia content and general administrative and routine tasks to support the Communications office.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities include**:

- Collaborate with the Head of Communications to create and deploy communication campaigns that effectively showcase the College's achievements and initiatives.
- Create compelling and engaging content across various channels, including social media platforms, College website, newsletters, digital campaigns, and physical media.
- Collaborate with a range of internal stakeholders including students, academics, senior managers and College groups and societies, to provide effective support in the publication of relevant news, research, and events to the wider community.
- Manage and grow the College’s social media platforms and digital presence through regular updates and engagement strategies.
- Develop and curate digital campaigns targeting specific audiences, ensuring alignment with College objectives and values.
- Utilise written and visual content resources to enhance and effectively communicate University of Cambridge and Queens’ College key messages and initiatives.
- Monitor digital engagement metrics, to refine content strategies and report on the effectiveness of communications initiatives to relevant stakeholders.
- Support internal communications initiatives to further engagement and transparency within the College community.
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities:

- Appropriate to the post and as directed by the Head of Communications
- To support colleagues in the Communications department as required and to support the overall work of the College.

**Training and Development**:
As part of the process of achieving the department’s objectives, we are committed to train and develop our staff**. **You will be provided with all the relevant statutory training required for you to carry out your role safely. Any further training requirements which will aid your personal development will be discussed with you at an appropriate time.

**Person Specification**

**Essential**:

- Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills; both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
- Able to build and maintain successful relationships with a range of audiences including academic, alumnae, staff, students and the wider public.
- Approachable, creative, and proactive individual.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
- Demonstrated experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools and visual content development/editing.
- Familiar with accessibility standards and inclusive content practices.
- Administration experience and computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

**Desirable**:

- Background in the higher education sector.
- Experience of web design and editing.
- Knowledge of the Adobe Suite or other equivalent editing software.

**Remuneration and Benefits**

**Hours of work**:36.5 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday

**Salary**: £26,356.47 - £32,192.27 per annum depending on qualifications and experience

**Pension**:Membership of the College contributory, final salary pension scheme after qualifying period

**Holiday**: 26 days per annum plus public holidays (34 days in total)
