Fundraising & Communications Assistant

**Salary**: £22,000 - £24,500 FTE
Closing Date: 9 am, 29 August
Interviews: Online, Tuesday 5 September
Location**:Hybrid with 1 day a week in North**
**Cambridge Office**

**Job Purpose**
We are looking for a Fundraising and Communications Assistant to join Villiers Park.

The Fundraising and Communications Assistant will support colleagues in our Fundraising and Communications teams, ensuring that we deliver excellent stewardship to current and prospective supporters, keep our records up to date and engage effectively with audiences across the country.
You will have excellent organisation and planning skills, are confident about working with databases and a strong communicator who enjoys working with a range of stakeholders. We are a small team so you will be proactive and intuitive in your approach.
The post holder will develop and maintain both internal and external contacts and will need a good understanding of Villiers Park’s work and social mobility.

**Organisational Values**

Fairness: We strive for justice and argue unwaveringly for fairness in a world of compromise, prejudice, inequality and deeply entrenched disadvantage.

Empowerment: We are passionate about working with individuals to enable them to find the skills and resources within themselves to flourish and have healthy futures.

Aspiration: We continually seek ways to improve what we do, how we do it, and the impact we have on the world around us.

Courage: We create an environment where we can be courageous by speaking and listening openly. We know that courage means taking risks and support others to learn.

**Who we are**

Villiers Park Educational Trust is a national social mobility charity committed to empowering young people to realise their potential.
We've been working with underrepresented young people in areas with historically low access to higher education and careers opportunities since 1909, helping them to achieve better life outcomes.

**About you**:

- Previous experience of using a database, preferably a fundraising database such as Salesforce.
- Previous experience of working in a customer or client facing role.
- Experience of building relationships with colleagues in a remote-working environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to build good working relationships internally and externally.
- Ability to carry out thorough research to keep-up-to date with new fundraising opportunities.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative, and manage a busy workload.
- Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Office including Sharepoint and Teams, and a willingness to learn new software.
- High levels of accuracy in your work with a keen eye for detail.
- Willing to understand the social mobility issues that affect young people in the UK and advocate Villiers Park’s work.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Good team player with a positive and proactive approach.
- Knowledge and understanding of GDPR and data compliance.
- Willingness to travel and work occasional unsocial hours for events.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be the central point of contact for Villiers Park’s database, supporting colleagues across the organisation to use our database (Salesforce) effectively.
- Keep records up to date, including contact details, mailing preferences, gift records, gift aid and proposals.
- Assist the Communications Manager with mailings to different audiences about Villiers Park’s work.
- Assist with gift aid administration and reporting.
- Create dashboards and reports on Salesforce to track engagement with different audiences.
- Keep abreast of updates to Salesforce, so that colleagues across the organisation can use the database in the most effective way possible.
- Assist the Fundraising team with thanking donors in a timely and personal way.
- Keep supporter lists up to date online and in our impact reports.
- Assist the Fundraising team with updates to trust, individual and corporate supporters, keeping them engaged with our work.
- Assist with the arrangements for supporter visits and events, including sending invitations to supporters; booking travel and accommodation for colleagues; preparing briefing notes; and helping with event logistics and administration.
- Assist the Fundraising team to identify and research fundraising prospects.
- Assist the Fundraising and Communications teams to prepare and update copy for campaigns and keep track of campaign progress.
- Contribute to fundraising presentations and proposals.
- Respond to queries about fundraising.
- Assist the Communications Manager with newsletter mailings, website updates and social media posts.
