**SK/Irvine Part Time Buddy/Support Worker / Driver 18 hours**Job description**

P/T Buddy /Support Worker / Driver required on a flexible occasional basis

To provide holiday and sickness cover to assist a 43 year old Man with Learning Disabilities

In the Irvine Area, of North Ayrshire.

You will be required to work 6 hours per day on a 9.30 or 10am until 3-30 0r 4pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday daytime, You will be employed to work out and about in the community with the gentleman.

Applicants must have a positive, flexible and friendly personality as well as have a clean driving licence and access to a reliable car and to ensure that you have up to date business insurance for your vehicle.

The gentleman is keen to maintain his health and fitness and will do this through exercise; swimming, the gym, 10 pin bowling, and walking and exercise group run by CLDT. He also enjoys music, the cinema and concerts. You will be required to support him to access and participate in these activities.

You must be willing to aid and support the person to access and take part in activities and events of his choosing within the community.

The hourly rate of pay will be £11.83 before deductions.

DUTIES:
To encourage the Service User to participate in activities and events of his choosing and at his own pace within an inclusive environment.

To actively comply and operate within the bounds of Health & Safety legislation.

To ensure that suitable action and reporting is undertaken regarding any safe guarding issues or hazards that you know or become aware of with regard to supporting the person.

To attend each session at the required start time.

To engage in face-to-face conversation with service user both in groups and on an individual basis.

To undertake personal care or supervise medication (with support) when required to.

To support and encourage the service user to participate in activities, within a secure, friendly environment when undertaking activities in the community.

To provide opportunities for the Service User to achieve and expand in existing as well as new interests and skills

To provide opportunities for the Service User to make friends and develop appropriate relationships with both peers and adults.

Previous experience of Supporting People with Learning disabilities is desirable.

2 up to date Reference contacts are required one must be from a present or previous employer and a new PVG enhanced disclosure, prior to appointment ( disclosure cost to be met by the employer)

There is a 13 week trial period attached to this post
