As the Nursing Associateyou will work with the multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of holistic care to palliative patients and their informal carers on the inpatient unit and/or in the community. We are seeking to hear from Nursing Associates who have some experience of palliative care, who are team players but also willing to work alone.

As theNursing Associateyou will need to have good communication skills and be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients. You must be passionate about delivering a high standard of holistic patient care.

Outpatient and Wellbeing services;
Support to patients in their own homes;
Community Specialist Palliative Care services; and

Working under the supervision of qualified nurses to provide patient care, including,

the review basic care for patient group,

referring to RNs for issues such as complex pain, wounds etc.;
deliver skilled clinical care to patients as detailed in their care plans;
completion of relevant documentation recording patient information and clinical observations;
report symptoms requiring nurse intervention promptly;
be aware of safeguarding processes/ policies and report any concerns to senior staff;
provide initial emotional support to bereaved informal carers (such as family and significant others) when a patient passes; ensure all equipment is sufficiently stocked and safe for use

Following competency assessment, all nursing associates may be required to complete additional clinical roles including, and not limited to;
monitoring and recording baseline observations of P, BP,R,T,SaO2;
undertaking venepuncture/ bloods; checking the location of transdermal medication patches; administering nebulised medication and manage oxygen equipment;
perform aseptic catheterisation; provide effective pressure area care using repositioning and relevant pressure aids reporting relevant changes in condition.
