We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable Senior Warehouse Assistant on a Bank contract.

You will be an essential part of the Operations team, within the warehouse, working for an NHS wholesaler that distributes pharmaceutical products nationwide.

Your role will involve working with others to pick, check and pack a large amount of orders, ensuring they are all processed and completed on a daily basis. Team working skills are key for this role. You will also have the opportunity to work autonomously at times.

With a strong attention to detail, you will be flexible in moving tasks as required, and working to deadlines. Other tasks include assisting with loading/unloading deliveries and collections and stock checking.

To carry out pharmaceutical technical duties in specified areas of the wholesale unit under the direction of the Deputy Store Manager(s) and Quality Manager (Senior Technician) to ensure that services are provided in a consistently high and professional manner which is complementary to a well managed service, at all times ensuring that standards are maintained, particularly with respect to statutory professional and legal requirements, i.e.:
- Provide a safe and effective routine services for issuing (against pre-generated orders), packaging, checking and dispatching of goods to customers
- Providing the final accuracy check for all orders prior to dispatch to customers and feeding back to warehouse assistants / colleagues if errors are noted
- Support risk management strategies within those area(s)
- Supervise warehouse assistants undertaking routine support activities necessary for the continuing supply of pharmaceutical products to customers
- Undertaking relevant administrative and clerical duties
- Being responsible for ensuring accurate receipt of goods received, observing at all times the principles of good stock control
- Participating in relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and to be aware of personal and Trust responsibilities with regard to the Health and Safety at Work Act and relevant Trust policies and procedures

1. OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be responsible for storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products according to local SOPs and the terms and conditions of the Wholesale Dealer’s Licence.
- Ensure all pharmaceutical stock is kept in the correct environmental conditions and keep records in accordance with department SOPs. Notify a Senior Technician (Procurement or Quality Manager) of any environmental problems immediately (i.e.’ fridge or air-conditioning failure).
- To assemble picking lists, and to ensure that products are distributed in appropriate containers. This will involve moving of heavy items to the delivery area as appropriate.
- Receive and store pharmaceutical stock to a high level of accuracy to maintain accurate stock levels and assist the Deputy Store Managers in the effective, timely and cost-efficient supply of medicines
- To demonstrate activities to other staff, including those in training and to be responsible for the assessment and training of assistants
- To be an authorised signatory for the receipt of deliveries, according to departmental procedures.
- Disposal of pharmaceutical waste according to local procedures and Health and Safety considerations.
- To carry out regular stock checks according to local procedures.
- To carry out temperature monitoring where necessary.
- To assist in the processing of invoices / delivery notes.
- To act as the final accuracy check prior to distribution of products to customers.
- To provide positive feedback to colleagues regarding any errors noted and to support staff in addressing such issues
- To support the Quality Manager in recording and identifying error trends and implementing systems and procedures to rectify such errors

2. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
- To understand the importance of working within SOP’s, ensuring that procedures relating to the work area are followed accurately and to a high standard, including understanding the importance of department security and safe handling of pharmaceutical products.
