Gavia Environmental Limited is an Environmental Consultancy specialising in ecology, hydrology, contaminated land, environmental support to the construction sector.

We offer a range of aquatic, terrestrial and avian ecology, with licenced ecologists and protected species specialists on hand to help meet your development needs. We also offer a range of other services including hydrology, Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Ecological and Environmental Clerk of Works (ECOW), and project managers for your Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) needs.

At Gavia Environmental, we’re pragmatic, but highly professional environmental consultants. We’ll provide the same robust, practical service whether you need a bat or great crested newt survey, a flood risk assessment, water resource assessment or peat risk assessment - and we deliver high-quality service as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

We would like to employ a Senior Environmental Advisor to assist Gavia to further expand our skills and services throughout the UK. We are currently seeking a like-minded individual to contribute to Gavia’s growing portfolio of Renewable Energy and Linear Infrastructure Projects.

**Location**

This position will be for an office of your choice in either Glasgow, Perth or Nottingham offices. Travelling and regular working away at our client sites is also a requirement of the role.

**Essential Knowledge/ Experience/ Skills**
- Environmental Degree or equivalent discipline;
- Full and valid driving licence;
- Experience in professional consultancy and advanced understanding of the EA process and methods, planning legislation;
- Appropriate professional membership;
- Holder of a CSCS or EMSS Safety Passport card; and

**Role Responsibilities**

You will be expected to contribute to Gavia by undertaking the following:
To successfully manage and deliver assigned projects by:

- Having excellent personal organisation skills to ensure adequate planning and monitoring of the workload and budgets can be understood;
- Practicing strict budgetary discipline, and minimise all aspects of commercial risk to Gavia, by ensuring that the scope of work and the time available are clearly understood and communicated to all members of the project team e.g. at project start-up meetings;
- Drawing upon the support available from the Senior Management and Finance teams, to ensure adequate planning and monitoring of the workload and budgets, ensuring that there is no avoidable overspend.
- Maintaining an onsite presence (as per contract agreement) to ensure successful client and other significant third-party liaisons, including Sub-contractors and onsite Contractors;
- Having an excellent understanding of health and safety, and biosecurity matters;
- Recording, auditing, and reporting to the Directors and Team Leads on project performance metrics, with the aid of project management software.

In addition, the Senior Environmental Advisor will:

- Comply with Gavia’s H&S policy and procedures and ensure that any project for which the Senior Environmental Advisor manages, complies with our ISO Integrated Management System.
- Undertake Environmental surveys and recordings to a high technical standard, primarily to scope and devise survey protocols, or for site familiarisation;
- Act as a company source of reliable expertise on specific business sectors e.g. water environment, and should increasingly provide mentoring to colleagues on these specialisms;
- Be entirely confident in dealing with the interface between consultancy and development planning, including pro-active appreciation of the potential for synergies/conflicts with other disciplines;
- Deliver accurate and well-presented factual baseline, interpretative, advisory, legal compliance, licensing and Environmental Impact Assessment reports, demonstrating an excellent standard of written English and high level of presentation.
- Contribute to Gavia’s marketing activities, e.g. marketing campaigns and materials, press releases, snippets for social media, attendance at suitable conferences, clients to visit, etc.
- Attract new Clients and generate new business for the company, by proactively identifying and contacting prospective clients in accordance with priorities set with their Line Manager.
- Work with their Line Manager to agree their own personal PDR Objectives and identify training courses to attend and other activities to undertake as part of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
