**Job description**:
Would you like to support low carbon hydrogen or industrial carbon capture projects that will make the economy cleaner and more sustainable?

Each project or programme within the HICC portfolio include an embedded Project Management Office (PMO). This role is within the Hydrogen PMO with a specific focus on hydrogen production, transport & storage (T&S), and hydrogen demand; and includes the £240m Net Zero Hydrogen Fund.

Our team sits within the Hydrogen and Industrial Carbon Capture (HICC) Directorate, a fast-paced and exciting directorate that is at the heart of BEIS energy and climate policy.

This role is located within a highly complex series of interrelated Projects and Programmes and will involve engagement with external delivery advisors, internal BEIS Project Management professionals and other Government Departments, therefore Programme Management experience and knowledge is essential.

**Person specification**:

- Lead the PMO to support the projects/ programmes in the delivery of Business Case benefits and outcomes. Champion the use of best practice project delivery standards and processes and help to improve capability within the team and across the Portfolio.
- Lead the drafting of Net Zero Hydrogen Fund sections of the Strand 3 and 4 Management Case through OBC and FBC stage, ensuring alignment with the wider Portfolio, seeking input from specialists as necessary.
- Provide advice and input concerning budgets for projects/ programmes, monitor and report on forecasts and actual costs.
- Establish the project delivery processes and standards for planning (including assumptions and dependencies), risks and issues management. Monitor the effectiveness of controls across the Hydrogen Economy & Production Teams, including running workshops and overseeing monthly reviews with Grade 6 Team leads.
- Ensure appropriate governance is in place, manage the governance process within the Hydrogen Production & Economy teams, ensuring alignment with the Hydrogen and Industry Portfolio’s decision making process.
- Lead internal assurance activities and arrange external reviews. Oversee completion of Gateway review outcomes, including defining action owners and deadlines for completion. Liaison and building of relationships with assurance teams.
- Ensure learning from experience is disseminated across the Project /Programme / wider portfolio.
- Oversee completion of monthly project reports, Government Major Project returns and Online BEIS reporting.
- Lead on the change control process for Hydrogen Production / Economy.
- Facilitate lessons learned sessions and disseminate lessons learned to the Hydrogen and Industry Project Delivery community
