**What you will do**

We are offering a full-time permanent advanced level 3 Design & Draughtsperson apprenticeship for aspiring engineers. This is a genuine alternative to university for people who have a passion for engineering and who want to launch their career with us.

- Within the Design Centre of Excellence we provide design support for all parts of the Johnson Controls business in the UK.
- This role is within our Fire Suppression Post order design team who provide engineered design solutions for all manner of mechanical fire protection systems including sprinklers and gaseous extinguishing systems. These systems are vital to both life safety and property protection from fire in a wide variety of market sectors from warehousing to schools, offices to manufacturing facilities.
- The post order designers are responsible for taking the customer brief/specification and developing a system design that coordinates with the building structure, complies with the applicable design standards and meets the facilities fire protection requirements.
- Full technical/engineered drawings are produced by the designer showing the fire protection system layout and details, along with hydraulic calculations to prove performance.
- A number of different tools are used to produce these drawings including Autocad, Hydraulics Software and Revit (3D). As well as the design aspects of the role, knowledge and awareness of construction sites and general mechanical pipework arrangements also form a key part of the designer’s role.

**How you will do it**
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrate and develop communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised completing simple design tasks.
- Understand the importance of Health and Safety awareness.
- Attend internal and external training courses as required.
- Attend college and satisfactorily complete all coursework and assessments to a recognised standard while demonstrating punctuality and good attendance.
- Meet the requirements of your 6 monthly assessment reviews.

**Details of apprenticeship**

All Johnson Controls apprentices benefit from structured training and support throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. You will start your apprenticeship with the company induction to give you a strong foundation for success.

The apprentice will be enrolled on to the Advanced Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship duration is a minimum of 3 years depending on your prior qualifications and experience.

You will receive a blend of remote and in-person training during the first 3 years of the apprenticeship course.
