Deputy Finance Director Interim-bristol Charity

6 month senior finance interim role for a Bristol Charity Starting as soon as possible & can be 100% remote
**Your new role**
- Lead the financial planning process - annual budgeting, forecasting - across all areas to provide SMG with the information they need to ensure the organization remains financially viable
- Responsible for the management of the year end process including the management of the auditor relationship
- Responsible for the delivery and critical analysis of robust, timely and accurate reporting, both internal and external
Principal accountabilities
- Accountable for the performance of the Business Advisory Team, including the teams detailed below, providing leadership, mentorship, personal development and performance management to ensure effective and efficient financial management across the organisation:
- Lead on the development and implementation of financial planning systems, models and policies, including: overhead recovery models, to ensure all projects and business developments are supported by financially robust business cases
- Work with the Executive team to develop long term financial plans (3 -5 years) including risk modelling to support the strategic goals and lead the organisational level budgets and forecasts to ensure accurate and appropriate budgets are set by each departmentin line with corporate strategy and objectives.
- Corporate financial reporting
- Business support in relation to financial performance management and analysis
- Technical Advice
- Lead and critically evaluate cashflow reporting and performance
- Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of monthly financial performance reports for Finance Director, SMG and Trustees with relevant analysis and interpretation, providing advice on the development of KPI's and Dashboard/ Benchmarking/BalancedScorecard
- Work proactively with business leaders to identify problem financial areas and solutions to overcome them and ensure pricing models and methodology used in business areas are robust and consistently applied
- Lead on the production of the statutory accounts for the business and subsidiary companies
- Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met for the business and subsidiary companies - VAT, Corporation tax, PAYE
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the organisations accounting records and financial systems, ensuring the provision of effective support to the organisation on technical accounting issues and finance systems and controls
- Work with the Head of Finance BST to ensure effective communication and high-quality customer service across all Finance functions
- With the Head of Finance BST ensure all financial controls are robust and regularly reviewed providing the necessary assurance as to the accuracy of financial data
- Manage third party relationships including bankers, specialist advisors, HMRC, external auditors and insurers
**What you'll need to succeed**:
- Able to use accounting systems, budget and reporting software and other systems at a detailed level including the ability to introduce new software
- Advanced use of Excel including lookup tables, pivot tables etc
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Flexible and imaginative approach to problem solving and an ability to anticipate and respond to the requirements of non-financial managers
- Ability to influence senior managers/stakeholders
Knowledge required for the role:
- Statutory reporting requirements, SORP etc
- General and nominal ledgers (preferably Access Dimensions)
- Understanding of VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax
- Knowledge of complex organisations where information is pulled from different sources and systems and the aggregation of different strands of information
Experience required:
- Relevant experience of managing a multidisciplinary team across multiple locations and providing a service to internal customers
- Evidence of effectively liaising with external stakeholders such as auditors
- Experience of designing and implementing effective process and control changes
- Experience of system implementation
- Experience of managing Treasury and Investment activity
- Track record of success of working effectively and collaboratively to deliver expected outcomes in a fast-paced pressured environment.
- Experience of writing and producing papers for Board and Senior management
- Experience of working in the charity sector
- Previous experience of deputising for a Director
