**Job summary**:
The British Army delivers education and training to its soldiers and officers. This is to help them meet the challenges of the 21st century by training for certainty and educating for uncertainty. A large proportion of this education is delivered by the Army Education Service (AES); this is a network of ten Army Education Centre Groups across the UK and Cyprus. Whilst the majority of the training audience are Regular and Reserve Army personnel, opportunities for Civil Servants and dependants are also available within Army Education Centres.

The education centres are staffed by a mixture of Army Officers, Civil Servants and contracted civilian staff. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from military officers who deliver education and civilian teachers to administrative clerks and learning centre assistants. There are a variety of different roles, and we all work together to deliver our key output, which is the delivery of outstanding education and whole life development services to Service personnel.

This post will be within 77 Army Education Centre Group, which is located in Aldershot, Hampshire and also has a small centre in Bicester. There is one administrator who supports our three Individual Education and Resettlement Officer (IERO) positions within the centre. This department provides invaluable support to those who are preparing to leave the Army, as well as providing personal development support and advice to those who are serving. The post offers development opportunities in the role as training will be offered for the key responsibilities that are part of the job role.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
This department primarily provides resettlement advice and guidance to Service Personnel; this is essential to ensure their smooth transition from a career in the Armed Forces to civilian life. It also offers Personal Development (PD) information to Soldiers and Officers throughout their careers by providing advice and guidance on both internal and external learning opportunities and the availability of funding to support individual learning plans. As an administrator, you will spend a large amount of your time interacting with people to answer their queries, advise on completion of forms and arrange appointments. You will also maintain records, make room bookings and prepare information packs. You will see your active contribution to the services we deliver as you will help and offer guidance to individuals every day, which is a rewarding experience.

The two administrators share a large office and there will also be opportunities to carry out some working from home and flexible working hours can be considered. The administrators are line-managed by an IERO who is a C2.

Our AEC team is made up of 12 military staff and 22 civilian staff positions. It is run by the Officer Commanding (OC) 77 AEC Group - a military officer (Major - C2 grade equivalent) who values collaborative working and achieving effective outputs. The position affords the opportunity to work independently as well as part of a team. There are also excellent opportunities to develop in role; training can be provided for most of the responsibilities and staff are encouraged to use their personal development days. Opportunities to take part in Civil Service College courses are frequently advertised to all staff.

**Person specification**:
The key areas of responsibility for the administrator role are:

- Record and allocate all IERO appointment requests.
- Receipt and record resettlement course records or exams.
- Maintain electronic records through JPA (the military version of HRMS) and Excel as required.
- Maintain filing system to support functions as required.
- Prepare information packs for Service leavers as required.
- Highlight all medical discharges and administer accordingly.
- Prepare and dispatch all resettlement instructions, letters or information as required.
- Maintain effective data collection for all courses run and provide returns to the office manager as required.
- Ensure classroom bookings are made with the centre administrator for all courses and that they are prepared for use.
- Provide additional clerical support as required by an IERO or the OC.
- Provide cover for other course administrators where necessary due to leave/gapping etc.
- Any other duties consistent with the post as defined by an IERO or the OC.
