**Position**:Community Support Assistant (East Yorkshire)

**Hours**:37.5 hours per week - Sunday - Thursday

**Main Purpose of the Job**:
To assist the Community Support Manager to deliver support to pets and their people in our East Yorkshire/North Lincolnshire communities. Facilitate the rehoming of dogs through the Home from Home and Foster to Home scheme. Liaising with other centres to support intake of dogs where the dog is not eligible for home based rehoming into the appropriate centres.

Actively promoting and supporting our dogs for rehoming, in the local area, using our charity shops/centres as a base for appropriate Meet&Match®

To deliver on community engagement projects, such as the community support scheme, acting as a key worker to enable pets to stay with their owner by delivering support services, such as walking, vet visits, training advice, or any support that increases dog and human welfare and reduces owner relinquishment.

To support and work with other agencies, such as but not limited to, social services, housing associations, food banks and homeless support services to assist pets and people in our communities.

Form relationships with those in the animal welfare sector to deliver support to those pets and people in our communities, working in partnership to increase the value of what we do.

Actively supporting and creating engaging relationships with volunteers to increase the service delivery.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**:
To support the Community Support Manager to deliver rehoming services within the community, which includes but not limited to:

- Home from Home assessments
- Home from Home Meet&Match® visits
- Foster to rehome support
- Foster to adoption activity
- Any required administration for the above activities

To support the Community Support Manager to deliver community support services within the community, which includes but not limited to:

- Dog walking
- Vet visits
- Advice and training
- Feeding support
- Provision of food and equipment
- Veterinary intervention requests and support
- Any required administration for the above activities
- Ensuring excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
- To fully support the Core Principles of the Charity.

**Person Specification**

**Qualifications & Experience - Essential**
- At least one year paid or voluntary experience of operations in a dog rescue environment.
- And/or at least one years’ experience in a paid or voluntary capacity of a similar role within the sector.

**Qualifications & Experience - Desirable**
- Qualified to National Diploma, NVQ2 or equivalent in animal care/welfare
- Management qualification NVQ3 or equivalent experience

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Essential**

**Understanding of the importance of ensuring of good dog welfare**
- Passionate about good welfare, understanding that not all dogs can be supported in their rehoming journey in a kennel environment
- An intermediate understanding of dog behaviour and welfare
- Able to be work independently and flexibly, comfortable lone working and capable of following lone working procedures
- Understands the importance of customer feedback to appreciate what customers consider good service, with experience of managing customer care complaints feedback and evaluation
- Ability to promote the organisation externally and create partnerships.

**Finance Management**
- Understands and has experience of working within a budget

**Other**
- Be a confident networker, understand the impact partnership work can achieve.
- Ability to make use of social media and website platforms to support the welfare and rehoming of dogs in our care
- To be able to attend events and promote the work of Jerry Green Dog Rescue in the community
- Ability to identify, create and develop new opportunities
- IT literate with a good knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel, database experience desirable
- Legally entitled to work in the UK

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Desirable**
- Good negotiation skills, with collaborative approach.
- Good planning skills with a solid communication ability
- An understanding of alternative rehoming options such as Home from Home/fostering processes
- Previously worked to KPI’s and understand the figures involved
