We’re currently recruiting for a Media Relations Manager who, working as part of the external communications team, will help shape and deliver a compelling media relations programme to support the UK business growth ambitions and dominant business prioritiesthat centre around organic growth, mergers & acquisitions, operational and ethical excellence and promoting our unique culture at Gallagher.

You’ll be responsible for undertaking both traditional media relations and social outreach - advising on the messaging, distribution, placement and amplification of our messages. The role requires a strong and compelling writer as it will include the draftingof press releases, articles, media bulletins and social media content. You will be required to develop media relations plans and other content and you will need to be comfortable in proactively contacting journalists to pitch stories about Gallagher and ourproducts.

**Your role**
- You’ll be a champion for the Gallagher brand amongst the media
- Work with the wider external communications team, marketing leads and business stakeholders to create media relations plans (informed by business priorities, market, customer and competitive insights) to accelerate growth
- Distinguish Gallagher from its competitors (globally and locally)
- Devise and implement a media relations programme including news jacking, reactive and proactive story generation
- Lead on specific parts of the media relations programme, namely regional media relations and vertical trade press for key trading divisions in Gallagher, plus its title partnership with Premiership Rugby
- Work with senior managers and other key business stakeholders to generate a regular flow of news stories
- Maximise thought-leadership and market research to support media relations campaigns
- Write copy (including press releases, pitches, articles and media commentary) for vertical trade, regional and business press - researching, writing and distributing these to relevant target audiences
- Handle incoming media relations and/or enquires
- Monitor competitor media activity, and identify opportunities for Gallagher to comment and reinforce our leading market position
- Collate, analyse and evaluate media coverage in line with agreed KPIs
- Manage events including press conferences and briefings when required
- Build strong relationships and networks with colleagues including senior stakeholders
- Work closely with the marketing and communications teams across the UK - identifying media opportunities and proactively generating media coverage
- Proactively work with senior business stakeholders to understand key trends affecting our clients and advise the business on how our insight can translate into compelling media coverage
- Educate stakeholders about the role of media relations in driving growth
- Regularly review performance and workflow processes to ensure maximum efficiencies
- Record, analyse, and report on activity results to inform future strategy
- Ensure necessary compliance and legal sign off obtained for all press releases and articles

**Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience**:

- You’ll have relevant experience in media relations and in a performance based marketing environment and a solid knowledge of media relations principles including PR planning, reporting, KPIs and media relations across both traditional and digital channelsis essential
- Financial services sector knowledge would be advantageous
- You must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, juggling multiple projects and delivering to (sometimes quite short) media deadlines
- Writing and proof reading skills will be a strength of yours along with a proven ability to write engaging, original copy for a variety of purposes and audiences.
- A broad understanding of the media landscape and an interest and experience in building strong media relationships is key
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with colleagues, managers, and leadership; skilled in developing effective partnership relationships with internal and external stakeholders
