- 042023-220The Disability Support Team provides advice, information, and support to disabled applicants and students, and works with faculties and other professional services to provide an accessible and inclusive environment. We are seeking a part-time (2 days per week) Disability Adviser to join our friendly team for a 1 year fixed-term maternity cover role, working across all campuses but based mainly on the City Centre campus. This is a job-share role so you will need to be a highly competent team player to ensure a seamless service to students and other stakeholders. The role will suit someone with a strong interest in disability and equality in higher education (HE), with experience of assessing the support needs of disabled students in HE and implementing support packages.

There will be an opportunity for hybrid working with a mixture of campus-based and home-based working.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Manage a caseload and communicate with other support staff to provide advice, guidance, and support to prospective and current disabled students on the provision of support services and facilities within the University.
- Provide advice, information, and guidance to staff across the University to facilitate learning support for prospective and current disabled students.
- Promote inclusive teaching and assessment and participate in the delivery of staff training and awareness-raising.
- Participate in relevant internal and external meetings and be a member of the National Association of Disability Practitioners (NADP) and other appropriate professional organisations.
- Ensure your professional practice adheres to the NADP Code of Practice for members.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience of assessing need and providing support within Further or Higher Education.
- Experience of managing a significant caseload and accurate record keeping.
- Previous disability awareness / equality training.
- Knowledge and understanding of study support for disabled students.
- Knowledge of current disability legislation and Disabled Students’ Allowances.
- Ability and willingness to consider new ways of working and new technology.
- Understanding of confidentiality / data protection.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of general student support-related policies and practices.
