Independent Living Adviser

We are looking for someone to join our Birmingham Direct Payments Team. You will be instrumental in providing advice and information to individuals with disabilities who live independently. This is a varied role that is based in the office/home and will involve travel throughout the community.

**Location**:Birmingham, B6 4AH (A mixture of office and home working)

**Salary**: The full-time equivalent salary is£24,142 per annum increasing to £24,625 per annum after a successful probation period. The pro rata salary is £13,702 per annum increasing to £13,976 per annum after a successful probation period.

**Hours**:21 hours per week

**Working** **Days & Times**: TBC but our core hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm.

**Closing Date**:Friday 24th November 2023

**The Role** - As an Independent Living Adviser, your main duties will include:

- Managing your own caseload
- You will advise customers on recruitment and selection of staff, offer support on financial aspects of their care packages, and assist them to identify support from other relevant sources including our PA Finder. Support with Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) when required.
- Providing accurate information in a clear and concise format that meets the individual's needs
- Recording and maintaining accurate records and providing reports as required
- Organising and attending meetings/reviews with individuals, colleagues and local authority staff

**Skills, Experience and Qualification** - We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

- Experience of working with vulnerable people
- Experience of providing information or advice to others or within a customer service environment
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing adapting your style to suit the audience
- Ability to manage diary and workload effectively
- Current driving licence and unrestricted use of vehicle
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to produce letters and other documents to a high standard
- Ability to input and maintain accurate data records
- Excellent telephone manner
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Ability to work flexible and to deadlines
- Hold minimum GCSE Grade 'C' or equivalent in English and Maths
