This is an exciting role working as part of the Well team based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital the post holder will work as part of the Well team to support staff to improve their health by coaching individuals to lead a healthy Lifestyle. The post holder will contribute to the implementation of the ELHT People Strategy and the ELHT Health and Wellbeing strategic action plan this is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of new initiative helping to improve the health and wellbeing of our staff. There will be opportunities to be involved in supporting with national and local audits and surveys and as part of the wider team in supporting with the delivery of our staff health and wellbeing strategy.

To do this you will need excellent written/ verbal communication skills and IT skills. Have good organisational skills and be able to work on your own as well as part of a team. You will have proven knowledge and skills in delivering behavioral support and interventions and also have a good knowledge of nutrition / healthy eating and exercise using national guidance were applicable and will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the benefits of making these changes.

The post holder will work as part of the Well team to support staff to improve their health by coaching individuals to lead a healthy Lifestyle. The post holder will contribute to the implementation of the ELHT People Strategy and the ELHT Health and Wellbeing strategic action plan, focusing on a proactive and preventative approach to staff health and wellbeing.

This will include responding to referrals and using behavior change techniques to provide motivation, education and strategies to assist with lifestyle changes. The role will discuss all aspects of healthy lifestyles and engagement such as Healthy eating / exercise/ smoking / alcohol/ Health checks and will signpost or offer a referral to appropriate community services.

Training will be provided for all aspects of the role, Previous experience of delivering health and wellbeing interventions or employee engagement is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities
- To liaise with all staff across the hospital to ensure that all staff are aware of the Staff health and wellbeing support and employee engagement opportunities and interventions.
- To support with the delivery of the ELHT Health and Wellbeing strategic action plan giving brief advice, running wellbeing support sessions and offering signposting and referral onto internal and external services across Lancashire and South Cumbria
- To prioritise workload according to pre-set action plan, effectively establishing and delivering wellbeing and engagement initiatives and interventions.
- Record all results in an agreed format, adopting a consistent approach.
- To liaise with and empower staff to develop and implement their own stop smoking plan, taking into NICE guidance and the experiences of that individual client and offering ongoing behavioural support and recommendations for Nicotine replacement therapy.
- Support the Well Team to introduce new initiatives to the staff, monitoring uptake and providing updates to relevant people, sharing staff views and experiences.
- To offer guidance and support for those with health and wellbeing needs including behaviour change techniques and methods.
- Identify and use opportunities to promote employee engagement including the National Staff Survey, Big Conversations, Employee of the month, wellbeing and engagement champions etc
- Support the recruitment of the Wellbeing and Engagement Champion role and provide support to existing champions in this role.
- To refer and signpost staff on to other services which are appropriate to their needs, which may be health and wellbeing services or other services that deal with the wider determinants of health.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement in processes. Ability to negotiate and agree the introduction of these processes in association with the wider teams and colleagues.
- Take lead responsibility for maintaining a source of information on resources, activities, and contacts appropriate to Smoking Cessation, alcohol awareness, healthy lifestyles and healthy eating etc
- To keep up to date with relevant training opportunities and developments in the field of Staff health and wellbeing and employee engagement using this to inform practice.
