**Main Purpose**

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Emergency Services Dispatchers at 421 Air Base
Squadron, Royal Air Force Menwith Hill, United Kingdom.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform fivefold emergency services dispatch responsibilities such as:
1) Dispatch based upon available information, the appropriate emergency service(s) (i.e., police, fire, medical, etc.) personnel and equipment to an incident.
2) Guide, reassure and respond to wide variety (e.g., fire reporting, terrorist threat, medical emergency, domestic violence, vehicle accident, etc.) of emergency callers, often untrained or panicked, as part of an initial incidence response.
4) Accomplish emergency dispatch system operations proficiency training.
5) Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets as well as prepare and maintains reports and records relating to emergency responses.
Operates and maintains telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, and other devices installed in the dispatch center as well as maintain maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs.

**Knowledge and Experience Required**:

- Applicants must demonstrate the following: _

1. Knowledge of and experience in communications operations to include a basic knowledge of trunked radio operations, and patching radio frequencies.
2. Knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Knowledge of the nature and capability of different software packages and the integration compatibilities among different software types. Capable of typing at least 25 words-per-minute (WPM).
3. Knowledge of location and availability of vehicle fleet, the type of apparatus and equipment needed for the emergency at hand, and a basic knowledge of firefighting techniques and terminology.
4. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing using a calm and stable demeanor while dealing with emergency situations.
5. Ability to work independently without immediate supervision.

**Other Important Information**
- Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
- Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.
- A 6-month probationary period will be required.
- Overtime may be required.
- May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
- **Other significant facts pertaining to this position are**:
1. The incumbent of this position must be certified within 18 months of hire by the DoD Firefighter Certification system as: Telecommunicator I, Telecommunicator II, and Hazmat Awareness. This is a selective factor, with the absence of this specific accredited body of knowledge an incumbent would not be able to successfully perform the Emergency

Services Telecommunicator duties assigned to this position. Failure or inability to obtain the required certification within the 18 month period will result in separation from the position.
- The position may require uncommon tours of duty during exercise or real-world crises or contingencies.
- The employee may be required to work overtime to include during exercise or real-world emergency operations.
- The employee may be recalled to duty, to include tests and practice readiness exercises.
- Employee may be required to change shifts with mínimal notice on occasion to cover unintended absences.
- The incumbent of this position is designated as a mission essential employee for reduced operations during inclement weather. Employees assigned to this position report
