Orkney, United Kingdom Cycling UK Full time

**Location**: Homebased in Orkney
**Salary**: £26,330 - £29,256 pro rata
**Contract**: Part Time, 26.25hrs / Until 31 March 2024, with possible extension if funding secured

Would you like to work within an innovative and engaging organisation that is working towards bettering the lives of others through cycling?

Cycling UK is proud to represent the voice of its 70,000+ members and many more to ensure everyone can realise a better world by bike. We have a loud voice to lobby government, campaign for improved rights and inspire millions more people to cycle. We know that within our community, the way in which individuals want to engage with us is broad. For many it's as simple as maximising the benefits of our membership to get the most out of their time on their bike but for some, it's also about giving back, and creating the right conditions for other people to thrive on their bikes for future generations.

**The role**

Cycling UK believes that cycling enriches people's lives and is an essential ingredient in happier, healthier communities. Our mission is to enable millions more people to cycle, and our development projects across Scotland are a vital part of achieving that mission.
Rural Connections brings the learning from all Cycling UK's projects in Scotland to deliver activities and opportunities for everyone in the areas identified for activity through an inclusive cycling and walking offer - to walk, wheel and cycle, for everyday journeys, leisure, and adventure.

As a member of our team, you would be embedded in local communities, working closely with community organisations, local business, and public sector agencies to:

- Bring organisations together to coordinate their activities and offers, to add value to what already exists and identify what additional activities are needed.
- Deliver a range of walking, wheeling, and cycling activities, from pre-school and family cycling activities to health and heritage walks, adaptive cycling sessions for disabled people, confidence building sessions and learn to ride lessons for every age and ability level.
- Provide access to a range of cycles for people to try on short or long-term loan, supporting individuals to find a cycle and support that works for them and signposting them to partners that can provide funding for purchases.
- Work with local organisations to upskill and build the capacity of volunteers to deliver activities in the community and keep cycles working in rural communities where there are no bike shops.

Due to the nature of the role, postholders will be required to have access to a vehicle or be able to arrange appropriate transport, and carry out tasks including the following:

- Physical tasks; movement of bikes and/or equipment.
- Take part and lead on outdoor activity delivery, such as cycle training and led rides or walks.
- Drive and use a vehicle to transport cycles.

Focus on gearing your supporting statement to exemplify how your skills and experience match the requirements of the role, directly referring to the person specification. This enables the selection panel to assess your relative strengths against the specified criteria.

If you think that this describes you and you are excited by the prospect of joining our team, please do get in touch to find out more.

Applications will close at 12.00pm on Thursday 05 October 2023, and interviews will take place on Wednesday 18 October 2023. Our interview process will include a practical assessment, on site.

You may also have experience in the following: Development Officer, Fundraiser, Fundraising, Charity, Not for Profit, Third Sector, Fundraising Development Officer, Business Development, Legacy, Charities, Fundraising Assistant, Fundraising Officer, Events Officer, Events Assistant, Charity Worker, Charity Fundraiser, Charity Fundraising Officer, etc.
