**Reporting of the role**:
This role reports to the Head of Night Operations

**Overview of job**:
The overall purpose of a Shift Leader is to oversee and support our employed and contracted night operations teams working in safety critical environments on the TfL estate which, will enable us to achieve delivery of our clients’ campaigns, safely and efficiently to the correct place and on time; manage performance targets and minimise unnecessary spend.

As a Shift Leader you will be best in class at providing positive, effective direction to our employed and contracted workforces creating highly motivated, productive and engaged teams who want to deliver Service Excellence, safely.

Working across all the TfL environments including London Underground, DLR, Croydon Tram and TCP in this role you will be key in ensuring we always comply with internal and external compliance, quality and safety standards.

**Measures of success -**

**In the first few months, you would have**:

- Gained the certification and accreditations required to access all environment across the TfL estate during passenger and engineering hours
- Experienced first-hand overseeing passenger and engineering hours crews across the TfL estate
- Working alongside our Poster Preparation teams gained experience preparing posters for all formats
- Experienced and be proficient in the duties and responsibilities of a Shift Controller
- Know how to and have good experience of booking line access and train tracking using recognised computer aided planning tools
- Gained hands on experience with handling operational and scheduling processes and procedures
- Gained hands on experience on end to end fault management within contractual SLA’s
- An understanding of the training and compliance requirements for each delivery role
- Knowledge and experience to undertake safety and quality audits
- Experience of using Workday
- Agreed SMART objectives and development plans in place for you and your teams

**Responsibilities of the role**:

- Proactively provide positive operational control and support to our internal and external resource teams which allows them to conduct their work efficiently, safely and effectively across all formats on the TfL estate
- Organise, maintain and provide accurate, timely reports on posting performance, faults and audits
- Ensure appropriate availability and accurate consistent use of operational tools, equipment and PPE
- Ensure correct, consistent and timely use of electronic devices, including posting confirmations, exceptions and fault management
- Ensure all aspects of operational documentation is correct, maintained and always accessible
- Ensure internal and external reporting processes and procedures are adhered to
- Ensure operational training, competency, and compliance arrangements comply with our contractual training, competency and compliance obligations
- Proactively identify and deliver on training and development requirements through coaching, structured 1-2-1’s and individual development plans
- Proactively develop and manage positive relationships with key stakeholders, operational teams and partner/s ; Client Partner and Client Partner operatives, Planning and Compliance, Transport Fulfilment, Poster Preparation and Contractor Partners
- Deal effectively and in a timely manner capability, conduct and compliance issues
- Actively, with a positive attitude, take on additional operational responsibilities as required relating to operational fleet, working equipment management and controls, development and training and compliance
