CHISVA’s are Independent Sexual. Violence Advisers for children and young people. We work with children under 18. A CHISVA is a specialist worker who can help & provide support to children & young people if they have experienced rape, sexual abuse +/or sexual exploitation.

**Hours**: 37hrs Monday to Friday (occasional weekend/evening cover)

**Salary: £24,000 (non-qualified) - £26,146 (ISVA/CHISVA qualification)**

**Main purposes of the posts**

Provide Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy for Male Children and Young People (CYP) who have experienced sexual violence and abuse

Men and boys who have been sexually assaulted or abused can face unique challenges relating to their experience because of social attitudes and stereotypes about gender and masculinity. Sexual violence can occur in families, intimate relationships but can also be perpetrated by a stranger, acquaintance or person in a position of trust

Working with CYP and their families to build trust and confidence, enabling them to share their experience

1. Utilise trauma-informed methods to offer tailored, practical and emotional support; routinely advocating for and facilitating clients’ access to appropriate agencies

2. Liaising with other professionals on their behalf, supporting clients before, during, and after criminal and civil court proceedings

3. Supporting CYPs to access their rights, healthcare, and other services such as therapeutic services

4. Responding to safeguarding issues quickly and appropriately

5. Raising awareness on the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, grooming, consent, and sexual violence.

In return we offer full training, a competitive salary of between £24,000-£26,146 (pro rata) dependent on qualifications and experience and 3% pension following a successful probationary period.
