**SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary)**

**Location: Newcastle**

**Salary: £70 - £90 per day**

**Time: 8.30 am

GSL Education is currently seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work with secondary students at specialist SEN schools in Newcastle. The schools are dedicated to providing high-quality education and support for children with special educational needs, including those with Autism and SEMH. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of these children, helping them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.

**Responsibilities**:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

- Support the social and emotional needs of children and young people.
- Work in an SEN department dealing with additional needs across school.
- Encourage pupil participation in whole-School life, including extra-curricular activities.
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, following lesson outcomes planned by the class teacher.
- Help learners understand lessons and educational activities delivered by the teacher.
- Assist individual pupils or across a class with other support assistants.
- Ensure a good relationship with parents and colleagues to create a protective environment so that children feel safe.

**Requirements**:
To be considered for this role, you must:

- Have a passion for learning and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Have a solid understanding of SEN, mainly Autism and SEMH.
- Hold a qualification in health and social care, which is preferable.
- Be empathetic with good listening skills and have good problem-solving abilities.
- Be willing to assist with basic healthcare practices.
- Be available for work Monday to Friday
- ECTs are welcome to apply
- Be proactive, energetic, kind, and caring
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with ourselves)
- A full checkable work history
