About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team at an inspirational SEN School in Newcastle. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, promoting their learning and well-being.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner, using your skills and experience to de-escalate situations.
  • Differentiate learning to suit the needs and learning styles of pupils, ensuring they receive the best possible support.
  • Build positive relationships with Class Teachers and other Learning Support Assistants, working collaboratively to provide outstanding levels of support to pupils.
  • Take a 'hands on' approach to supporting children in their learning, engaging with pupils and promoting their engagement and participation.
Requirements
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service) and a childcare-based qualification (although not essential).
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff, demonstrating a resilient and proactive nature.
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students, with high levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
