In March 2018, Greater Manchester became the UK's first age-friendly city region, international recognition from the World Health Organization for a range of policies and programmes working to improve the lives of older people.

Over the last 15 years, working closely with the Ageing Hub at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Manchester School of Architecture have been contributing to work defining, delivering and evaluating the role of _place_ in creating more age-friendly cities and communities. MSA have co-designed the £4m Ageing in Place Pathfinder (AIPP) which is the latest iniative in developing a GM wide approach to support residents to make their neighbourhoods better places for them to grow older. The Ageing in Place Pathfinder programme is a three year place-based programme designed to transform how public services work with older adults across the GM LA's and is one of the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub's three strategic priorities. You will be part of a core team delivering the Ageing in Place programme and responsible for data gathering, analysis, and communication to enable evaluation of ageing in place initiative.

**About you**

You will be a post-graduate with an environmental psychology / urban studies or sociology / community architecture and planning / background with an understanding of inclusive place making and experience of using a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including participatory action research or community engagement. You will use your skills and experience to support local teams developing ageing in place programmes across greater Manchester.

We are looking for someone with experience of research and analysis for the development of inclusive city neighbourhoods and spaces. You will be a team player, based in a team at the Manchester School of Architecture.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Gather, analyse, and communicate the synthesis of place-specific qualitative and quantitative data from a range of sources
- Help prepare spatially located action plans setting out key priorities for ageing in place programmes in specific neighbourhoods across GM
- Work directly with a range of local stakeholders to gather evidence in support of ageing in place local priority plans
- Manage relationships with local stakeholders across a range of sectors to ensure research engagement with local ageing in place planning activity
- Appropriately record and communicate the findings of research to a range of audiences to ensure stakeholder participation in co-production
