The National Management Centre (NMC) is part of Police Digital Services and provides visibility and control of information risks for policing. It supports the 24x7x365 nature of police operations, providing a threat detection and response capability fordigital services before, during and after cyber-attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.

The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for responding to identified threats on our customer networks. Working as part of a dedicated and flexible team, you will play a key role in helping to protect law enforcement organisations from cyber-attacks.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Respond to detected and identified threats within NMC monitoring platforms, including triage, recommendations and appropriate escalation to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with other functions within the NMC to support the overall aims of the provided services.
- Analysis of alerts and incidents, including raw logs and correlation of events.
- Assess and communicate severity of triaged alerts to internal or external stakeholders or customers.

**What you need to succeed in the role**

**Essential**
- Understanding of cyber security methodologies and frameworks
- Knowledge of various ICT infrastructure, including Firewalls, Windows / Linux servers and clients.
- Knowledge and understanding of IP networks and their components, eg. Routers and switches.
- Direct experience in using SIEM platforms.
- Initiative and the ability to produce quality work without close supervision.
- A strong attention to detail and genuine passion for continual service improvement.
- Enthusiastic and driven to work in Cyber Security
- Motivated to work both on your own initiative and within a dynamic team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional attitude.
- An ability to multi-task and manage workloads to different deadlines.
- Broad cyber security awareness and practical experience.
- Non-police personnel vetting and Security Check (SC Clearance) will be required as part of the role and must be maintained during tenure. Will be required to sign Official Secrets Act.
- Ability to acquire SC and NPPV3 level clearances.
- Trend analysis ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and service enhancement
- An ability to perform deeper analysis and investigation into the data on specific alerts when required.
- Customer facing experience, willing to directly engage with customer to gain insight and opportunities in the value of the service
- Stakeholder experience
- A drive to evolve the service
- An ability to create service reports for the leadership team when required
- Committed to progressing up the value chain in terms of experience, knowledge and skills

**Desirable**
- Knowledge of Cloud platforms (Eg. Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Azure, AWS) and Cloud concepts.
- Experience working directly with customers on complex topics.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to convert technical information to plain English to convey the risk an alert poses to an organisation.
- CompTIA S+ certified or above.

**Working Arrangements**

This role will be hybrid, working 3 days a week from the NMC offices.
