This is a unique opportunity for you to lead the small Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) team and contribute to shaping the behavioural change and culture of the organisation. You will ensure excellence in health, safety and wellbeing, embedding a culture of safe working, environmental awareness and quality across the company.

You will work across the company supporting and ensuring compliance against the two business streams of Environmental Services, comprising grounds maintenance, streets cleansing, cleaning and arboricultural teams, and Building Maintenance Services, comprising minor and major repairs, refurbishment of empty properties, damp repairs and whole house improvements.

Role details

Reporting to the Managing Director, and working closely with the Operational Directors, you will lead on wide-ranging projects and take strategic responsibility for our integrated SHEQ management system, establishing an effective performance improvement framework for safety, health, environmental and quality issues. This will involve collecting and analysing key performance indicator data, using it to inform decisions and develop appropriate interventions.

You will drive our SHEQ strategy and ensure legal compliance and adherence to the company’s Health and Safety Policy and procedures, ensuring best practice is maintained across the company.

Highly engaging, you will actively inspire and empower others to take effective ownership and understanding of sensible risk management and promote a positive culture of Safety, Health and Wellbeing across the company.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a strategic leader who has strong evidence of professional and technical experience in Health and Safety Management. You will have proven ability in developing processes and operating models within ISO 9001/14001 and 45001 to capitalise upon opportunities for continuous improvement. Impressive communication is essential, along with an understanding of the current SHEQ related challenges and opportunities.
