London, United Kingdom Department for Business and Trade - Digital, Data and Technology Full time

The newly created Department for Business and Trade brings together the business focused functions of the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for International Trade (DIT). Our joint expertise in trade and business provides us with a unique opportunity to unleash the power of UK businesses, reform regulation to reduce burdens and unlock post-Brexit freedoms.

Let us tell you a little bit about the role

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) supports businesses to comply, invest, expand and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country.

Our Content Live Services team creates and improves content on GOV.UK and great.gov.uk to make complex language and online processes simpler for businesses to understand. It also creates and improves content for the department’s intranet so that people working here can support businesses efficiently.

We make sure content meets a user need, is up to date, and complies with the latest accessibility standards.

We deliver insight into how well the content we manage is performing and act on feedback. We use this to innovate, improve and provide a better service for our users.

We’re looking for a Senior Content Designer to work in our Content Live Services team.

You’ll be a skilled Content Designer with excellent attention to detail. You will know how to write simply and clearly, with the user in mind, and you will have the confidence to champion high-quality content across the department.

A talented communicator, you should feel comfortable managing relationships between your team and other teams to ensure consistency and share good practice.

You’ll help colleagues and stakeholders in other disciplines understand what content design is, why it’s important, and how to work with content designers.

You’ll work in both proactive and reactive ways and use your design-thinking and judgement to make evidence-based decisions.

This is an ideal role for someone who has leadership ambitions.
