Higher Kings Millis in Cullompton is currently hiring for position of **Environmental Technical Operative.**

Environmental Technical Operative (ETO) position comes with:

- Salary of £11.30 per hour paid monthly or £31 500 annually
- Bonus pay for weekend shifts and for security related tasks
- Full-time, permanent position - 12 hour shift patterns (4 on, 4 off, 06:00 - 18:00 and 18:00 - 06:00)
- 25 days annual leave per year (Jan to Dec)
- 3 months of fully supervised training followed by 3 months of probation period
- Forklift and telehandler training
- Free onsite parking
- Full uniform (after probation period) and safety workwear
- Possible First Aid training in the future

In addition during employment you will be able to:

- Develop technical skills and knowledge in wastewater technologies applicable in variety of different industries
- Gain experience in independent and self-scheduled work
- Develop knowledge about environmental, health and safety, technical requirements in accordance to law and industry standards

**The Role**:
As an Environmental Technical Operative (ETO) you will be trained over 3 month period, to be a self-sufficient aerobic water processing facility operator. Main tasks you will have to carry out include:

- Operating machines and computer program to keep the aerobic water processing facility running accordingly to requirements to environmental permit granted to Higher Kings Mill
- Maintaining the aerobic water processing facility and it’s machines
- Daily waste water sample testing
- Reporting to Environmental Technical Supervisor (ETS) and Environmental Technical Manager (ETM)
- Handling chemicals used onsite during water treatment processes
- Secondary and supporting role in paper production process
- Operating vehicles like counterbalance forklift and telehandler
- Occasional site security during night shifts

Apart of important tasks around aerobic water processing facility you will be responsible to help with other tasks, mainly to help out with production:

- Operating starch cooking station
- Moving product around the plant
- Moving and sorting waste materials
- Preparing production materials
- Good physical fitness
- Good communication skills
- Good spoken and written English
- High attention to detail
- High reliability and punctuality
- Basic computer skills
- Good interpersonal skills

**Complementary skills**:

- Counterbalance forklift licence
- Telehandler licence
- Experience in wastewater treatment or paper industry
- Problem-solving skills
