Horton Housing is a non-profit organisation which has three Group Living Service (GLS) in Bradford, we provide short-term accommodation and support for young people who are leaving care or at risk of homelessness, or are Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) aged 16 to 18 years old. Each site is staffed 24/7. Young people have their own rooms or self-contained flats with shared facilities including lounge, laundry and garden. All accommodation is fully furnished. The aim of the service is to provide short-term accommodation and support to young people to help them develop independent living skills. The young people are then supported to move on to longer-term accommodation.

**About the role**:
This role is offered on a 35 hour per week basis, worked on a shift rota. Shifts covering days and nights are available.

You will:

- Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with our young people
- Undertake health and safety checks and walkarounds
- Engaging with the young people who may need someone to listen to
- Undertaking light maintenance duties
- Ensure you are aware of who is onsite and keeping the building clean, tidy and presentable
- Liaising with support staff to ensure a good flow of information take place at handovers
- Promote, safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our young people
- Support with challenges they may face around drug and alcohol, mental health, asylum and offending behaviour and providing a secure environment for young people within a group home environment
- Promote independence and safe behaviours in accordance with the young person’s individual support plan, assisting with domestic duties and responding to any emergencies appropriately

**Skills and experience**:

- There will be a requirement to travel to all three Group Living Services as and when this is needed so a car is essential for this role
- The ability to work flexible hours on a rota basis to meet the demands of the post. This includes shift work during the night, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- An understanding and experience of working in an environment that caters for Young People and/or Asylum Seekers in either a paid or voluntary capacity or lived experience
- It is preferable but not essential that you have experience of working in an environment that is Ofsted registered
