Following a promotion, a vacancy has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Assistant in theEating Disorders Service
- an outpatient service.

To work as part of the occupational therapy team based with the Outpatient Eating Disorders Team. You will be responsible for undertaking prominently rehabilitation activities for this client group but interventions will also include therapeutic and social activities, psycho educational groups, leisure activities etc.

We are looking for someone who has experience, relevant knowledge and a passion to be working with service users, contributing to delivery of a package of care to promote recovery. You will need to be able to demonstrate drive and motivation in providing recovery based Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions. There will be an expectation to hold a caseload of service users with whom you will provide OT led interventions, working closely with and under supervision of the qualified OTs. This will involve working in service users’ homes and within their communities, supporting them in a practical way to achieve their occupational goals.

**What you will be doing**:

- Work as part of a team providing an Occupational Therapy service for the clients and carers. This will involve implementing and modifying programmes which encompass areas which will include self-help, leisure, communication, independent living, educational and work skills. You will also observe and feedback any relevant information concerning clients and carers to the Supervisory Occupational Therapist or team. These interventions may be carried out through group or individual sessions. To use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills and observation of the client and their environment.
- Work with delegated service users who remain the responsibility of the registered Occupational Therapist, reporting in a timely and appropriate manner. Service users may demonstrate behaviours that challenge or have difficult family situations of relevance.
- Be part of a client centered service where the needs of the individual will determine the types of intervention. This will mean that the post holder will work across a variety of therapeutic activities, eg cooking, shopping, snacks out, relaxation technique (this is not an exclusive list).
- Engage service users and their carers in therapeutic programmes of care and encourage them in a compassionate manner, to support them in achieving their identified goals and to promote independence and well-being through a client centred approach.
