An opportunity has arisen for two Business Support Assistants to work within the Safeguarding Adults Team in Adult Social Care at Derby City Council for a short-term piece of work.

The Safeguarding Adults Team is the single point of contact for all safeguarding adult referrals in Derby City. It is a fast-paced and dynamic service with high volumes of demand. The team are friendly and supportive.

It is important to note that contacts to the team are about allegations of abuse and/or neglect of adults with care and support needs, which can be upsetting. The work activities for this role will include reading information of this type.
- Ensure the effective processing of referrals and the proper maintenance of records, as required by the service.
- Establish and maintain robust administrative systems.
- Respond to inquiries from families, and health and social care professionals, and provide updates on our customers.
- Arrange transport to and from home and hospital as needed.
- Maintain schedules and calendars.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Process invoices and generate purchase orders.
- Adhere to Derby City Council policy when handling and receipting cash, including the amenity fund.
- Assist in maintaining manual and computerised personnel record systems, providing administrative support to the personnel function and helping provide information and advice to area staff.
- Provide a reception service for both in-person and telephone callers, answering routine inquiries and operating appropriate equipment.
- Undertake general clerical duties, such as photocopying, filing, and message taking.
- Adapt to future changes in working methods and procedures within the general scope of the posts responsibilities and undertake the necessary training.
- Provide typing and word processing support.
- Take minutes at meetings as requested.
