The Strategic Lead Equality (Disability) is a key role within the Policy & Integrity Directorate and will work closely with the Strategic Lead Equality and the Director of Equality Diversity Inclusion in Sport.

You will be responsible for shaping how we continue to raise the importance of inclusion for disabled people in all areas of sport and physical activity, and support policy development in this area working closely with colleagues, key partners, and stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Equality Diversity Inclusion in Sport, you will help position our existing and future work so that it has the greatest impact using insight, data, and best practice as key fundamentals to your approach.

**Role Purpose**:
You will shape the organisation’s approach to sector-wide Disability policy, coordinate the team’s work and provide practical support to the Disability team to engage fully with the organisations business transformation process.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, sharing learning, data and lived experiences to help improve understanding, build confidence and capability within the sector.

You will help to remove barriers to participation for Disabled people across the sport and physical activity sector, feeding into the successful delivery of Sport England’s strategic vision, Uniting the Movement.

**Skills & Experience**:
**Essential**
- Proven ability to build and motivate high performing teams and create a learning culture with colleagues that operate across a range of disciplines and working over a wide geographic area.
- Relevant experience in a senior role where access and inclusion of disabled people is an aspect of the work.
- Extensive experience of developing and influencing policy
- Excellent relationship management skills
- Proven ability to create collaborative relationships, including between organisations who don’t have a history of working together.
- Extensive experience of advocating and championing the issues of disability access and inclusion and an empathy with the issues these communities face.
- Creative thinker with the ability to pro-actively identify opportunities, define problems and achieve creative solutions.
- Experience of delivering positive outcomes for underrepresented and excluded groups/communities
- Understanding and awareness of the political environment with regards to disability inclusion at a national and local level.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to present complex messages at a high level and in an engaging style.
- Ability to review complex data sets and present relevant insights
- Experience of developing positive relationships with senior colleagues and working in a collegiate and supportive way.

**Desirable**
- Experience of effective evaluation of data sets
- Previous experience of working in a politically sensitive environment
