We're hiring our first Designer

At Reach Industries, we believe that scientists are solving some of the world's most pressing challenges, from combating climate change to developing vaccines and new treatments for diseases yet their tools are still poor. Our AI powered software platform, Lumi, automates operational data capture, insights and processes in labs, augmenting scientists so they can focus on the more creative aspects of their work. Lumi is versatile and is being applied across a wide range of life science industries, including in biotech and pharma.

We are a startup where the early team have a strong background in various frontier technologies and a deep love for making science better. We've already shipped a first version of the Lumi platform and we've received excellent feedback from early customers. We have very ambitious plans for Lumi ahead, so now we're looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to join our core team, ensuring that our platform's design is intuitive, engaging, and always focused on creating a seamless user experience for our scientific users.

**Role brief**:
Being the first Designer in a startup is an exciting and demanding role. We are looking for a senior UX/UI Designer that obsesses about creating software that meets both known and unknown needs of scientists. You combine analytical and creative skills to identify needs, communicate them within your team and then help solve any design-related problem. A strong portfolio of successful UX/UI and other technical projects is essential.

**Your Impact**:

- Conduct interviews and usability testing to understand customer needs
- Sketch ideas and interaction models and evaluate their benefits
- Mock-up wireframes and prototypes to explore new ideas
- Design pixel-perfect user interfaces using the tools of your choice
- Work closely with developers to implement attractive designs
- Find creative ways to solve unexpected UX problems

**Your experience**:

- At least five years of experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer or similar.
- Strong portfolio of professional design projects, with a demonstrated knowledge of interaction design, sketching and prototyping
- Proficient in design software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe suite)
- Experience working in small collaborative teams, including working constructively with development teams
- Empathetic, analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication skills (visual, written and verbal) and fluency in English
- Degree in Digital Design, UX/UI Design or related field
- Consulting or agency background a plus
