**The Role**

We are looking to appoint a confident and outgoing Community Engagement worker to support our engagement with the local community, initially to develop our new garden project, increase our reach and fundraising activities. You will be building relationships with our communities and businesses to promote and develop our aims & objectives at the centre.

**Who you are**

With a background in a similar role, customer facing or transferable skills, you will have great interpersonal skills that will support your work to make meaningful connections with our local community, fundraisers, local businesses and other voluntary community organisations. You will be an excellent communicator - approachable and confident whether you’re dealing with customers, staff, volunteers or donors.

You will have good IT skills and the ability to spot an engagement opportunity and work independently. Team work makes the dream work, so it’s essential you are confident to work with different groups, within our team of staff, volunteers or customers.

**What you will do**
- Work with the centre manager & Rastrick Big Local, to develop the centre in line with our goals and objectives, engage with our community and increase visitors and activities, build relationships with our communities and businesses.
- Identify areas of opportunity to increase our engagement and ideas for fundraising, work to develop and promote our centre and the activities we offer.
- With colleagues develop a range of materials that will support your work with core audiences.
- Support for all events to raise the organisation’s profile and maximise on all engagement opportunities.
- Work with the centre manager and volunteers to understand ‘’what people need’’ and investigate how we can make it happen
- Gather feedback and data in order to make communications relevant to audiences.
- Undertake a range mandatory and role specific training where required including safeguarding, data protection, health and safety.
- Work in accordance with all The Space Community Hub policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties relevant to the post, taking a flexible, team-based approach to the role.

**Person specification**

**Criteria Essential**

Qualifications Good general education to at least GCSE level 4

or equivalent.

**Desirable**

A qualification in fundraising, marketing or similar customer facing experience.

Background working in community, staff or stakeholder engagement

Experience of marketing, communications or PR Experience of working in the

voluntary sector.

**Skills**

Good interpersonal skills to build a network of community and fundraising contacts to achieve objectives

Able to use various channels to promote key message and campaigns

Good IT skills including the use of Word, Outlook and Excel.

**Desirable**

Experience of using Canva & Social media

Ability to plan and prioritise workload, good team worker who can support other colleagues, marketing and fundraising activities where needed

Ensuring a consistent and responsible approach to all communications

Ability to coordinate engagement activities/events with staff, volunteers & engage our community and donors.

Understanding of data protection.

Knowledge Awareness of marketing (web, social, engagement) channels and how to use them

Understanding of basic marketing processes to improve our communications & awareness of our centre.
