Key Account Manager

Reporting to the Sales Director, be responsible for the development and support of both new and existing Independent Merchant Groups.
**The Role**:
- To develop new and increase existing sales of products within the account portfolio.
- To conduct high level negotiations and develop strategic solutions with key accounts in order to promote our brand and products.
- To develop robust a full 'Sales Channel Strategy’ in order to maximise the return for the company whilst managing/preventing any conflict between trading customers.
- To develop robust joint business plans, and undertake full category analysis in order to maximise potential return.
- To act as the main point of contact for, and liaison between, the company and the account portfolio.
- To provide detailed account briefs to the BDM team in order to maximise their impact and effectiveness in branch
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the sector, keeping up-to-date with market trends and developments by competitors.
- Take the necessary action to resolve any problems and queries.
- Present the proposition directly to customers.
- Respond to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner.
- Manage and maintain up-to-date sales administration using CRM software.
- Proactive, motivated and driven
- Business focused and aware
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentational
- Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven success in a similar role
- Confident negotiator with ability to "close the deal"
- Ability to self-manage own workload to tight deadlines, including balancing, planning and organising multiple tasks simultaneously
- Adaptable and flexible
- Experience selling plumbing products into the merchant sector
- Preferably with a strong technical and sales-oriented background Proactive, motivated and driven
- This is a nationwide role which may require overnight stays
