**Salary**: £11.44 per hour

**Duration of post**:Casual worker assignment - The Project Co-ordinator will contact you from time to time to offer you work as required for holiday, absence and additional staffing cover.

**Hours**: Various - Due to the clients in which we work with, many of the assignments offered will be within evenings, school holidays and occasionally on a weekend.

Your hours of work will vary depending on the operational requirements of the project. As much, advance notice as will be given to ensure flexibility.

**Annual leave entitlement**:Pro-rated amount of 5.6 weeks statutory entitlement worked out on an accrual basis.

Our aim is to support and encourage young people with additional learning needs to engage in their local communities; broadening their social networks, making friends, confidence building and learning social skills. Our focus is on sustainability and supporting our young people to make connections with individuals and groups that outlive the life of our projects. We do this through one-to-one and group work encompassing social, leisure and potential work-related activities.

Each Sessional Youth Worker will assist our Project Co-Ordinator in facilitating sessions around Monmouthshire to provide activities, engage with young people and support the day-to-day running of social sessions or at overnight residential activity camps.

Full training is provided; as is ongoing support and commitment to your personal growth and development in the role.

**Main Duties**:
1. To attend and support members within group activities/events in the community and with the project.

2. To help with the smooth running of workshops/activities/events arranged by the project.

3. To build positive relationships

4. To provide emotional and practical support to the members

5. To help members achieve their set goals outlined by project coordinator

6. To protect the members from any risks to their health and welfare as directed by the project coordinator

7. To report any issues to the Project Coordinator immediately and take any resultant action as necessary/advised.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Essential requirements**
- Ability to build rapport with individuals, especially those with various disabilities and learning difficulties and their families
- Experience of working with individuals with disabilities and learning difficulties
- Patience and a sense of humour
- Caring and resilient nature
- Friendly, helpful and approachable character
- Self-motivator
- Excellent communication skills
- Quick thinking and able to remain calm under pressure
- Reliable, honest, trustworthy, empathetic and able to act with integrity

**Whilst experience is preferred, we are very keen to hear from applicants who are committed, passionate and dedicated to being an outstanding role model to support our members.**

**Desirable requirements**

1. Reognized qualification in relevant setting

2. Safeguarding Training (Will be provided if not already gained)

3. Experience of working with young people in a youth work setting or similar will be an advantage.

4. Awareness of additional learning needs.

Although not an essential, on limited occasions there may be a requirement to escort clients as required to events/community activities, should this be necessary, the post holder will need to hold a current valid UK driving license and have access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance to be able to claim this as a business expense.

**Other Duties**:
1. To act as an ambassador for Bridges raising awareness of its charitable aims and objectives and enhancing its reputation through exemplary behaviour, conduct and team working.

2. To attend meetings and training as required.

3. Take all reasonable measures to follow all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and appropriate legislation as applicable, including personal accountability for the safety of self and others at all times.

4. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the post holder is required to perform any other reasonable duties that may be assigned by the Manager in addition to those shown above.

**Other Requirements**:

- A right to work check and a DBS (Cost covered by Bridges) will be required prior to starting within the role.
